Behind the tag - Anomli
Anomli is not only a space nerd, she is also a content creator and variety streamer to keep your eyes on. We had a chat about her passions in life, why she loves the gaming community and why it has been important to her. Also, she reveals the awesome story about her gaming tag - it’s all about inclusion and the right to be just the way you are. Enjoy!
Hello Anomli, please tell us a little about yourself!
I’m an avid gamer and a Mixer variety streamer based out of Los Angeles, CA.
What is your favorite game?
This is a tough one! I mostly play Call of Duty but if I had to choose an all time favorite I would say Quake 2. The Quake franchise was my first exposure to FPS games and you get to be a badass who annihilates aliens to save the world.
How did it all begin?
It all started with a Nintendo Famicom hand-me-down when I was about 5 or 6. I played so much Paperboy! When I was 8 my dad brought home a recycled PC from work and that’s when my passion for gaming really grew.
When did you realise gaming was your thing?
I realized gaming was my thing when I would rather go home after school on a Friday to play Age of Empires than to go to a sleepover.
Tell us the story about your gaming tag?
Over the past few years I’ve come to embrace being different and thinking differently so I based it around the Steve Jobs quote about being a misfit- a round peg in a square hole. Or in my words an anomaly. However, I wanted it to be a bit more me so I changed it to Anomli .
What is your best gaming memory?
Renting a PlayStation from the video store and playing Tekken with my sister until we had blisters on our fingers.
What is your worst gaming memory?
My friends and I spent months building an elaborate Minecraft world when we let a random play. While we were exploring a water temple the random set everything on fire.
Are there any other hobbies that you are passionate about?
I love to travel, play guitar and I’m also a photographer.
What motivates you to keep creating and pushing yourself?
Being a gamer was “weird” when I was growing up and I was bullied and called a nerd on the daily. Gaming and streaming has given me a platform to be myself and be around like-minded people and that’s what motivates me.
What advice would you give to young creators starting out?
Be yourself. There are tons of content creators out there who are playing the same games that you are playing but there is only one you. And be patient. Growth takes time and persistence. You got this!
What are you up to right now? What's going on and how can people follow you?
I currently stream Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and other games on Mixer at 8pm PST during the week and during the afternoon on weekends. You can find me at mixer.com/anomli or _anomli on social media.
