Behind the tag - Dexb0t

With a steady stream of quality content, Dexb0t is educating his growing number of followers about the ins and outs of warfaren in the modern sense. He is a director and a central part of the friendly gaming community Karnage Clan who have been gaming since before high speed internet!
DRKN had a chat with this long time Call of Duty fan to find out whats up!

Hi Dex, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am Dex (aka DEXB0T) and I'm am a YouTube content creator and Twitch live streamer, specializing in Call of Duty content!

We know you play a bit of Call of Duty (understatement), Would you say that is your favorite game?

For sure, my favorite game as a whole would be the entire Call of Duty series (Yes I know that is really a bunch of games these days) but I have been playing them since 2007 and have enjoyed almost every one of them for a variety of reasons.
I have played public matchmaking, and I have competed online as well so Call of Duty has brought me tons of fun gaming with friends online.
More recently I have now experienced the Content Creation and Entertainment side of Call of Duty as well, so there is a little bit for everyone in the Call of Duty world!

So COD full on since -07, but when and how did you get into gaming?

Many years ago (before everyone in the world had high speed internet), my neighbor (and one of my best friends) had high speed internet and 2 gaming PC's at his house. After school and on the weekends we would hop on and play a variety of online multiplayer games together. It opened my eyes to an entire new world of gaming. Fast forward many years later, where online gaming is more of the "norm" - I can comfortably say I'm thankful for how everything worked out!

When did you realise gaming was your thing?

The moment I was introduced to online gaming. Knowing there is an entire world of gamers out there to play with, network with, and get to know is intriguing.

So Dexb0t, can you tell us the story about your gaming tag?

I wanted to have a way to center my gaming name & brand around myself personally. I was able to do that by incorporating my name (Dex) into my gaming name, DEXB0T. I loved the idea of being able to make my personal name part of my brand. The zero doesn't have any relevancy except for the fact that I wanted to be able to register/sign up with my online alias everywhere so that was more widely available!

You have been gaming for a while now, what is your best gaming memory?

I actually have so many that are special for so many reasons, but I think the most exciting memory for me was in 2016 when I was invited to the Infinity Ward studios to participate in a charity live stream. I was able to play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare from the developers studio while raising money for a charitable cause that I am proud to help. That experience allowed me to utilize my gaming passion for an important cause in real life.

Thats awesome! How about your worst gaming memory?

My worst gaming memory would have to come from an incident that happened to me in Call of Duty: Ghosts. I played that game alot, and I was grinding the in-game leader boards which I was ranked fairly high on, and for some reason all of my in-game stats were reset. I tried reaching out to the developers and the Activision support team on Twitter but the only response I was given was that I was reset for "boosting" or something like that, which was untrue and something I didn't participate in so I had to start all over. Wasn't the end of the world, but was pretty disappointing as I was just a huge fan at the time.

Gaming aside, are there any other hobbies that you are passionate about?

I have a wide variety of hobbies that I'm interested in outside of gaming. I love playing Baseball, I love Social Media, and I have a family that is pretty awesome.

Family is for sure important! We are stoked that you have that support!
What else motivates you to keep creating and pushing yourself?

I think it would be neat to one day be a full time content creator or live streamer. I believe that will be an endless pursuit to see if one day my hobby and interests in gaming, will be able to benefit myself and family as a career!

Well if you keep this up we are sure that will be a reality! What advice would you give to young creators starting out who still have a long road ahead?

I would have to say nowadays it's more popular than ever for young creators to attempt starting to pursue the hobby of content creation and live streaming. So many people are interested in going after it. I would say you have to find what works for you. Find something that you are genuinely interested in and passionate about because if you aren't enjoying yourself, you won't enjoy what you do. Once you find that, then find a way to brand yourself and make your content unique. Quality will always shine through. It will take time, but don't give up. Always keep going.

What are you up to right now? What's going on and how can people follow you?

Currently I will be continuing to create and live stream Call of Duty content. You can find me on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter!
